What is included in a bath appointment
A bath here is not a rinse. It is a full wash, a full dry and a full brush-out, which is what actually makes the difference between a dog that looks clean for two days and one that looks clean for weeks.
- Pre-brush to loosen dead coat before water touches it
- Shampoo chosen for the skin, with a second wash where needed
- Conditioner or a de-shedding treatment depending on the coat
- Full blow-dry, not cage drying
- Brush-out down to the undercoat
- Ear cleaning and nail trim

The ofurô, and why we offer it
The ofurô is a warm, relaxing soak in a tub with products worked into the coat, borrowed from Brazilian grooming. Dogs who tense up in the shower usually settle in it, and it is very good for dry skin, for stiff senior dogs and for coats that have gone dull. It is optional and we will tell you honestly whether your dog would benefit.
Bath only, or full groom?
Plenty of dogs never need a haircut. If your dog has a short or double coat, a bath with a proper de-shed is usually the right service and the cheaper one. If the coat grows continuously, like a Doodle or a Shih Tzu, a bath alone will not stop matting.
A bath is enough when
The coat is short, smooth or double, there are no mats, and the problem is dirt, smell or shedding rather than length.
You need a full groom when
The coat keeps growing, the face or paws are overgrown, or you can feel tangles near the skin. See full dog grooming.
De-shedding is the answer when
Your Husky, Golden or Shepherd is leaving a coat's worth of fur on the furniture every week. Never shave a double coat to fix shedding.

Frequently asked questions
How often can I bathe my dog?
For most dogs every four to six weeks is comfortable. Dogs with skin conditions may be bathed more often with the right shampoo, and dogs with heavy double coats benefit from a de-shedding bath at the start and end of shedding season.
Do you use cage dryers?
No. Every dog is hand dried and brushed out. It takes longer, but it is safer and it is the only way to get the undercoat properly dry, which is what prevents hot spots and matting.
What is the ofurô exactly?
It is a warm soak in a tub, with products worked through the coat while the dog relaxes, before the normal wash and dry. It came from Brazilian grooming and it is popular with dogs who dislike the shower, with senior dogs and with dry or dull coats.
Can my dog get a bath if he has fleas?
Tell us when you book. We can handle it, but we need to prepare and protect the other pets in the salon, so it changes the slot we give you. Please do not bring a dog with fleas without warning us first.
