Why overgrown nails are more than cosmetic
When nails are long enough to touch the floor, they push the toes back on every step. Over months that changes how a dog stands, loads the joints differently and makes older dogs slip on hard floors. It is one of the cheapest problems to fix and one of the most commonly ignored.

How often do nails need trimming?
Every three to four weeks for most dogs. Dogs walked mostly on grass need it more often than dogs walked on pavement, because concrete files the nails down naturally.
Does the nail trim hurt?
Not when it is done correctly. Inside each nail there is a blood vessel called the quick, and we cut short of it. On dark nails we take several small cuts instead of one big one, which is slower but far safer.
Do you trim cat nails?
Yes. Cat nail trims are quick and one of our most requested small services. Please bring your cat in a carrier.
What is a dremel and do I need it?
A dremel is a small rotary file that smooths the nail after cutting. It is optional. It is worth it if your dog scratches you when greeting, or if the nails snag on carpet and blankets.
